On Sunday May the 28th Iran played a friendly match against Croatia in Osijek, Croatia. I had the honour of attending that match. A small outcome I came back from that match .. OUR FANS NEED TO BE MORE ORGANIZED .. I have e.mailed the Iranian Football Federation, asking them if we will have cheerleaders, and if we wont have I have volunteered to be one, but unfortunetly I have got no answer. They would not do any thing for us, we need to organize ourselves. Here are some photos of Iran vs Croatia (Fans photos and game photos)

COMING SOON .... Maps and information on where to meet prior to Iran matchs.

LIST OF RULES

Extremely important advice and recommendations to be passed on to wives, girlfriends, fiancés, mothers, sisters, daughters, etc. (to all women in general) These rules are to be communicated prior to the World Cup in June/July this year...

1. From 9th June to 9th July 2006, you should read the sports section of the newspaper so that you are aware of what is going on regarding the World Cup, and that way you will be able to join in the conversations. If you fail to do this, then you will be looked at in a bad way, or you will be totally ignored. DO NOT complain about not receiving any attention.

2. During the World Cup, the television is mine, at all times, without any exceptions. If you even take a glimpse of the remote control, you will lose it (your eye).

3. If you have to pass by in front of the TV during a game, I don’t mind, as long as you do it crawling on the floor and without distracting me. If you decide to stand nude in front of the TV, make sure you put clothes on right after because if you catch a cold, I wont have time to take you to the doctor or look after you during the World Cup month.

4. During the games I will be blind, deaf and mute, unless I require a refill of my drink or something to eat. You are out of your mind if you expect me to listen to you, open the door, answer the telephone, or pick up the baby that just fell from the second floor... it wont happen.

5. It would be a good idea for you to keep at least 2 six packs in the fridge at all times, as well as plenty of things to nibble on, and please do not make any funny faces to my friends when they come over to watch the games. In return, you will be allowed to use the TV between 12am and 6am, unless they replay a good game that I missed during the day.

6. Please, please, please!! if you see me upset because one of my teams is losing, DO NOT say “get over it, its only a game”, or “don’t worry, they’ll win next time”. If you say these things, you will only make me angrier and I will love you less. Remember, you will never ever know more about football than me and your so called “words of encouragement” will only lead to a break up or divorce.

7. You are welcome to sit with me to watch one game and you can talk to me during halftime but only when the commercials are on, and only if the halftime score is pleasing me. In addition, please note I am saying “one” game, hence do not use the World Cup as a nice cheesy excuse to “spend time together”.

8. The replays of the goals are very important. I don’t care if I have seen them or I haven’t seen them, I want to see them again. Many times.

9. Tell your friends NOT to have any babies, or any other child related parties or gatherings that requires my attendance because:
a. I will not go,
b. I will not go, and
c. I will not go.
But, if a friend of mine invites us to his house on a Sunday to watch a game, we will be there in a flash.

10. The daily World Cup highlights show on TV every night is just as important as the games themselves. Do not even think about saying “but you have already seen this...why don’t you change the channel to something we can all watch??”, the reply will be: “Refer to Rule #2 of this list”.

11. And finally, please save your expressions such as “Thank God the World Cup is only every 4 years”. I am immune to these words, because after this comes the Champions League, Premier League, Italian League, Spanish League, etc etc.

12. Thank you for your co-operation.

Regards,
Men of the World

Chants and slogans

Dear fans,

those are some slogans and chants for Team Melli matchs, I remember those from Team Melli matchs I attended years back, so if you have new ones or other ones please write them at the "comments" part at the end of this post...

The Classic slogan of Team Melli as you all know is “IRAN CHIKARESH MIKONE .... SOORAKH SOORAKHES MIKONE” this is chanted anytime of the match, specially at the begining of the match and whenever Team Melli is playing all-attack.

After playing the national anthems and taking team photos, I remember chanting „KARIMI, TEAMETO VARDARO BIYA” then Team Melli players would come to the Iranian fans section and wave to them.

With the kick off of the match, all Iranian fans were chanting “HAMLE, HAMLE, HAMLE ... TEAM MELLI KOOBANDE”. This chant is repeated whenever the fans felt its time to attack and give an offencive spirit to the Team Melli.

After passing some time the fans chant “BACHEHA MA GOAL MIKHAYM, BACHEHA MA GOAL MIKHAYM” and when the Team Melli scores a goal the chant is “BACHEHA MOTSHAKRIM” this chant repeats after each goal and at the end of halves.

After scoring the first goal, to give a spirit to the team we chant “MA MONTAZERE DOVOMI HASTIM, MA MONTAZERE DOVOMI HASTIM”

Last but not least the ever classic “Ey Iran ey marze por gohar” anthem can be chanted anytime to give a morale boost to the Team Melli, speciall at the begining and at the end. Here is the complete lyrics of the anthem:

“Ey Iran ey marz-e por gohar, Ey khákat sar cheshmeh-ye honar,

Door az to andisheh-ye badán, Páyandeh máni to jávedán,

Ey doshman ar to sang-e khár-e-ee man áhanam,

Ján-e man fadá-ye khák e pák e Mihanam,

Mehr-e to chon shod pisheh-am, Door az to nist andisheh-am,

Dar ráh-e to key arzeshi dárad in ján-e má, Páyandeh bád khák-e Iran-e má,

sang e koohat dor-ro gohar ast, Khák-e dashtat behtar az zar ast,

Mehrat az del key boroon konam, Bar goo bi mehr-e to chon konam,

Tá gardesh-e jahán-o dore-e ásemán bepást,

Noor-e izadi hamisheh rahnamá-ye mást, Iran ey khoram behesht-e man,

Roshan az to sarnevesht-e man, Gar átash bárad be peykaram,

Joz mehrat dar del naparvaram, Az áb o khak o mehr-e to sereshteh shod gelam,

Mehr agar boroon shavad tohi shavad delam.

World Cup fever in Iran

Mansoor Ansari has reported to PDFC the following:

"With only few weeks left until the 2006 World Cup, the football fever reached all time high in Iran. Iranians are anticipating a surprising show by their TM heroes, but at the same time, they are concerned about the national team's shortcomings. A quick glance in main squares of Tehran are also a reminder of the upcoming event. Huge high tech TV screens in three crowded squares of Tehran are constantly displaying advertisement, promising the live broadcast of the games in these three locations; Vanak, Haft'e Tir, and Ghods. One can only imagine the number of people and the level of excitement when the games will be broadcasted live there. If Iran succeeds to defeat Mexico in the first match, a huge celebration is anticipated to be triggered from these squares." more on PDFC

Getting Started

Dear all,

Less than one month left to the kick-off of the 2006 FIFA World Cup, and our beloved Team Melli will be showing the world our class and style of football. Unfortunetly I haven't seen any organized initiatives for directing and organizing the Team Melli fans, therefore I thought I start something since I'm a die-hard Team Melli fan and not only would like to see our Team Melli performing well, but also I would like to see the fans cheer for our beloved Team in best way, so let's get it started.
